BEHIND THE SCENES

What you don’t see on the dance floor

An evening that looks effortless has half a day of work behind it. Setup, soundcheck, coordinating with the venue, laying cables, aiming lights — and at the end, when everyone has gone, the same in reverse. Here’s what that looks like.

THE TEAM

Polly and Marko

I’m out front — Marko is behind the scenes. What looks like one evening to you is weeks of work for us: I’m responsible for music, schedule and hosting, Marko for contact with venues and corporate clients — and on site for everything that has to be in place before the first guest enters the room: equipment, setup, soundcheck, lighting.

For you, that means one thing above all: one dedicated contact from the first enquiry to the last song — and still two pairs of hands on the night. If something comes up, I don’t have to leave the decks. Marko is there.

On top of that, we work internationally. I speak German, English and Russian, Marko speaks Croatian, German and English. At bilingual weddings and international corporate events — from Düsseldorf to Zadar — that means your guests are actually spoken to, not just played at.

AN EVENT DAY

What a day like that really looks like

01

Arrival and setup

We arrive several hours before the start. Equipment in, booth up, cover on, cables laid so nobody trips over them.

02

Soundcheck

Every room sounds different. A full hall sounds different again from an empty one — which is why we fine-tune during the evening, not just beforehand.

03

Coordination

A quick chat with the venue, photographer and best man or maid of honour: when does what happen, who announces what, and where are the surprises in the schedule.

04

Your day and your party

Reception, dinner, first dance, party — from here on I read the dance floor and decide song by song. Marko is on call all evening: should anything unexpectedly fail, he brings backup equipment — and I don’t have to leave the decks.

05

Teardown

When the last guests leave, the unromantic part begins. Usually between two and four in the morning.

NEW EVERY DAY

Most of it happens on Instagram

That’s where I show almost daily what’s coming up — setups, sets, venues and the moments that don’t make it into the glossy part.
